Kitchen 15
The 2008 CotY Award Winning Kitchen $15,000 to $30,000. These homeowners saved their pennies for years for a well-designed kitchen. They wanted to modernize their outdated kitchen. Their home was built in the 1970s and the kitchen was original to the home. It was a builder’s grade kitchen and these homeowners knew exactly what they wanted and needed for their kitchen to be brought into the 21st century. They wanted quality, functionality, and they did not want to spend more than $30,000 doing it. One of the obstacles we faced in meeting the homeowners’ needs was that they wanted cherry cabinets and Quartz countertops, being that we had a specific budget, we had done a little digging to find these specific items for them. To our delight we were able to find a quality cherry cabinet in the Dura Supreme line that one of our suppliers carried. Another challenge we encountered was the homeowner wanted a specific kind of backsplash. They did not want the typical ceramic tile; they wanted their tile to have a stone look. This proved to be an adventure with locating this specific tile and while keeping in the budget. Finally, the homeowners wanted a ceramic look for their flooring; however, they did not want ceramic tile flooring, because they felt it would be cold and that it could chip. Therefore, we set out to find a floor that looked like ceramic tile floor, only in vinyl flooring. Once the project was completed, we were able to come in under budget with still giving the homeowner everything they desired. They were elated with the transformation, as were we.
